As a professional social worker, I have a ringside seat to the failures of our uniquely American form of free market capitalism and our barbaric reliance on private sector provision of social welfare. Society expects social workers to fix people, but if a broken economic, political, welfare, or legal system is the problem, then more social workers cannot be the solution. This blog is my own exploration of how capitalism itself creates unsolveable social problems--and how this can be fixed. My goal is to put social workers (like me) out of business, because individual social workers--no matter how numerous--cannot fix broken systems.
